Doc. RNDr. Juraj Šebesta, CSc. prevzal 3. augusta na Medzinárodnom kongrese FIT v Brisbane významné ocenenie – Cenu excelentnosti FIT 2017 za preklad odbornej literatúry.

The conference will address the following topics:

- Language diversity as a socio-cultural challenge

- The “minor” languages as source /target languages of translations

- Strategies for minor language application on the translation market

- Statistical overview of minor languages as source/target languages of translations by genre

-English as a lingua franca vs “medium” and “minor” European languages / statistical overview of market distribution

-Employability challenges faced by translators into minor languages

-S-pecific situation of translators into minor languages as reflected in national legislative framework

-Qualification criteria of translators into minor languages from employers’ perspective

-Quality assurance and managerial practices in public sector – European and state translation services

-Quality assurance and managerial practices in private sector - translation agencies

-Terminology: emerging cooperation flows and patterns between public and private players, the role of Slovak Terminology Network

-Terminological problems: Unification vs Creation of terms in minor languages

-Changing roles of technical translators in response to market demands

-Translation associations in terms of efficient use of funding (lifelong education of translators)
